VILLAGE LOANS SAVINGS ASSOCIATION- Butere Kenya
Noble Women Inc, in collaboration with Women of Faith Foundation Ltd, is working to empower women and their spouses in Butere Kenya
Introduction
Women of Faith Foundation is a legally registered organization that is committed to raising a team of emotionally and spiritually healed, motivated, disciplined, God-fearing and financially empowered women for productive marriages, families, and the wider society. In accomplishing this commitment, the Foundation has created a movement that seeks to reach out to and connect with the socially vulnerable and challenged single, widowed, and married women globally. The Foundation holds empowerment forums, skills pieces of training, mentorship programs for women and youth, food donations to needy families, and the setting up of skills training centers.
Since its launch in 2018, WOFF has connected to more than two thousand (2,000) vulnerable women in Kenya through empowerment programs, skills training in tailoring, home detergents and re-usable sanitary towels, mentorship programs, and food and clothing donations to the needy. The Organization has also started two tailoring training Centers where women with low-income walk in for free skills training. To raise economic levels of vulnerable women, WOFF conducts and trains women through a ‘Village Savings and Loans Association’ (VSLA) and currently has more than twelve groups (12) of thirty women each in Taita Taveta County, Kenya. The organization envisions many empowered women across Kenya in the next five (5) years.
WOFF Ltd connected with Sister Rose Amakobe of Noble Women Inc through an online prayer meeting. Sister Rose introduced the objectives of the Virtuous Woman of All African Nations Inc, which works through entities controlled by African women in the Diaspora to sponsor projects in their home countries. Various women from different Countries share common goals and make contributions to support each woman financially and materially with an objective to develop and improve the lives of women living in poverty from where they are born. Sister Rose Amakobe works with Virtuous Women of All African Nations Inc. Through her organization called Noble Women Inc. Noble Women Inc focuses on enabling survivors of intimate partner violence to thrive in society. WOFF Ltd was motivated by realizing how common our goals are to those of her organization shares a sort of similar goal with our Virtuous Women of All African Nations Inc.
Coordination and implementation of programs for people living in the Diaspora require local people or organization that demonstrates transparency and accountability. Inspired by WOFF performance, Sister Rose Amakobe of Noble Women Inc shared with us through a virtual meeting held in September 2021, to assist in the coordination of the Virtuous Women of All African Nations Inc programs to be implemented in the year 2022 in her home Kakamega County, Butere Constituency, Emunuku, Kenya.
Through our practices conducted before the implementation of any activity, WOFF liaised with Sister Rose to conduct a feasibility study among the prospective women in Butere, to determine the following:
1. Examine the environment to identify cultural and social issues that might affect the implementation of the project
2. Study the behavior of the women and the environmental issues of the society.
3. Transform the mindset of the women to ensure their focus on the project before implementation
4. Impart women with necessary social skills prior to project implementation.
